About Jenny
Ybañez-Watson

A Multilingual Storyteller Bridging Cultures Through Media

Jenny Ybañez-Watson, born in Bilbao, Spain, to Filipino parents, grew up in England and earned a prestigious Journalism degree from the University of Westminster in London.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Tagalog (Filipino), she has built a career producing and presenting stories across the UK, Asia and the Middle East.

Now, Jenny is beginning an exciting new chapter in the United States with her husband, bringing her global perspective and award-winning expertise to American and international audiences.

Jenny began her media career at the BBC, working in various production roles before joining 4Music as an entertainment reporter at ITN Productions. She went on to produce a magazine show for Alhurra (Middle East), contributed to fast-turnaround documentaries for the Discovery Channel, and served as London correspondent for ABS-CBN (Philippines).

Following this, she became a producer and presenter for lifestyle magazine shows that aired on Sky, including a one hour mental health–focused weekly broadcast of three original programmes, covering entertainment, wellbeing, and human interest stories.

She later moved to China to become a general news reporter, covering a wide range of international and domestic stories for a global audience. Post-COVID, she co-hosted the international documentary series "China on the Move," produced by Lion TV (London) and SMG (Shanghai).

In addition to her broadcast work, Jenny has hosted and emceed live events in front of audiences of hundreds — including beauty pageants, cultural and music festivals, and corporate programmes. With her natural stage presence and ability to read a room, she brings energy, warmth, and professionalism to every live event she leads.

Since then, Jenny has hosted international docuseries, produced culturally rich films, launched her own YouTube channel Journey with Jenny, and mentored underrepresented talent entering the TV industry across the UK.

Her leadership and creative direction at BAFTA award-winning Licklemor Productions and MAMA Youth Project helped grow their digital footprint exponentially — increasing social media video views by 2,000% and training over 50 diverse young creatives, 94% of whom have moved into entry-level media roles.
